BEFORE & EVER AFTERS

Nothing better than an annotated before and after series, right? Extreme makeover, the baby room edition:

We bought and love this Loaf daybed for our (then) spareroom. We cannot bear to part with it, so it’s a (currently) very useful addition to the room. Once she needs her own bed I have no idea what we’ll do. For now, I love the contrast of this lovely piece of grown up furniture in among the wonderland vibe of everything else.

A lovely but long defunct fireplace was blocked up - so no drafts, then blocked physically, by the beautiful Sebra Juno Cot Bed. God I love it. Soft neutral carpet (cool grey to compliment the monochrome walls), all important characterful rug, and a cute but not too cute lampshade as the centrepiece.

I’d never particularly noticed the light in this room before, it was too…let’s call it ‘shabby chic’, for me to want to spend any time in there. As soon as this beautiful Rebel Walls mural went up, it was mesmerising. I now realise it gets the best morning light in the house. Who knew?!

Since the daybed is staying, I wanted to dress it up within the Wonderland theme. That means maximal, beautiful, whimsical characters that our baby will love FOREVER (no pressure). I had the giant Panda for years (seriously), so he was a given. The BigStuffed whale was my first ‘pregnancy’ purchase, and everything else I added as I looked at the space and thought what it needed. A pop of colour (droplet garland), some beautiful books, a cushion, a pom pom blanket, ahh.

It was hard to let this beautiful antique writers bureau go but it’s not super useful taking up space where a changing table wants to go. I bought and assembled one that I immediately hated, so I sold it on Ebay and went back to my original choice, the Cam Cam Harlequin cabinet. AH I LOVE IT. So does Coco apparently…
